Meet the Ware Force: Teddy Woldstad

General

As a young company, hiring the right people is crucial to success. We’re proud of the culture we’re building at Ware and want you to meet the people behind our inventory control technology. These are the people that make it happen.

Next up in our meet the team series is Teddy Woldstad, who was one of the first deployment engineers to join our operations team.

Keep reading to learn more about Teddy, what he loves most about working at Ware, and what a typical day looks like in his role.

Name: Teddy Woldstad

Role: Senior Deployment Engineer

Department: Operations

Location: San Francisco, CA

Q - Can you start by telling us a little about your background?

A - I grew up in the Sacramento area of California, but have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, for my degree in Industrial Engineering.

Before joining Ware, I worked as an Industrial Engineer for a plastic injection manufacturer. My role there included managing assembly line processes and optimizing material movement across multiple facilities, necessitating a solid knowledge of warehousing and logistics. I actually discovered Ware while I was looking for new concepts to use in the company’s warehouses. I was so impressed with the technology, I knew I needed to be part of what Ware was achieving. I’ve been here for more than a year now and it all started with a Youtube video!

Q - What does a typical day as a Deployment Engineer look like?

A - My primary responsibility is ensuring that customers are successfully onboarded to our systems and set up to achieve maximum value from our product.

From the time a contract is signed, I assist with facility evaluation and integration, hardware configuration, and customer training and support. Some days you’ll find me working in our San Francisco office; other days, I might be deploying our software in a warehouse.

Q - What do you like most about working at Ware?

A - I really enjoy the fast pace of working with a young company, and seeing new, innovative technologies implemented in warehouses. Being able to help our customers pursue increased efficiency and continuous improvement in operations is very satisfying.

The travel aspect of the role is really interesting as well. I get to visit customer facilities to support them with their onboarding and deployment of our system and have had the opportunity to travel across the US and internationally.

Q - What do you think is next for warehousing?
A - Definitely increased automation. The demand is going to increase due to shortages in available labor, as well as the many safety risks that come from working in a warehouse.

There will also be increased utilization of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning in the operation of warehousing and logistics. This can result in better space utilization and material flow in and out of buildings, and I’m sure Ware will be part of that trend.

Q - What do you like to do in your spare time?

A - I really enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it be running, hiking, biking or backpacking. There are so many great places in California to do this, and I have some favorites I visit fairly frequently. Outside of California, Zion National Park is one of my favorite places to hike.

Q - Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

A - Not many people know this but I have an extensive root beer bottle collection - over 100 different bottles. I started when I was much younger after a friend shared some sodas with me that he had bought on a road trip, and I’ve been collecting them ever since!
